Day 2: Sidetrip2 - Rizal Shrine in Dapitan

Waiting for our ride. Very early, and without breakfast yet, we went to the Bus Terminal in Ozamis in the hopes of catching our ride for Dapitan. We had 2 items in the itinerary that day -- Rizal Shrine and Dakak!  


Hiring our own van. We were having our breakfast while waiting for the aircon bus for Dapitan when a driver of a van for hire offered to take there instead. We haggled that we'd take him if he'd take us all the way to Dakak right after our visit to Rizal Shrine. He agreed. Hmm... I forgot how the price we settled on. Was it 800 0r 1000 bucks? 


A view of the Mt. Malindang Range We won't be climbing her till Tuesday yet she looked real imposing already. Little did we knew that we're up against a very looooong, very tiring trek.... 


At the Shrine!!! Rizal's House. Actually just a replica of Rizal's house where he stayed during his exile in Dapitan.

Going Up the House. This is the landing that leads directly to Rizal's ba?o. At its right is the house's main balcony and door that leads to the interiors of the house  


At the balcony. The smoky effect here was brought about by some elderly women, who might be in-charge with the maintenance of the shire, who are doing some sweeping and burning of some dried leaves.

The Tree este, the Two =) This tree was supposed to be there already during Rizal's time in Dapitan. Imagine how old this tree already is. More than a hundred years old...  


Renee on a Rock. This rock looks out to the sea and is said to be where Rizal and his paramour 'Becket (Am I right at all?) share their afternoon talks.
